Heritage

1963

Every Family Has a Story

Birte and Karl Toosbuy founded ECCO in 1963. Trained as a shoemaker, Karl had a dream to own a shoe factory and run his own business. The little family decided to give up the security of regular jobs, sell their home, and move to Bredebro in southwest Denmark, where they started building ECCO from scratch.

Today, ECCO remains family-owned — still guided by the same pioneering spirit that started it all over 60 years ago.
